Q: What is a Honeymoon registry and what do they look like?
A: A honeymoon registry is very similar to an ordinary wedding registry. The main difference here is that instead of picking out items for your home you are choosing items for your honeymoon vacation. A honeymoon registry is a fun and exciting online interactive service where couples and their guests can go to view and purchase gift items that the couple has selected. There is nothing more fun that logging on to our site every day to check out your guest notes, items purchased and your registry balance. For the Moon is also a great site to use for generating a mailing list for thank you cards, listing information about your upcoming event, and showing off a picture of the two of you or your honeymoon destination. Remember that part of the fun is in the planning of this trip and inviting your family and friends to be a part of it with you.

Q: Why should I choose For the Moon?
A: You should choose the honeymoon registry that best fits your needs. We invite you to shop around. Like shopping for house wares, don’t just grab the first toaster you see; do some research. We are confident that we can provide the best services, support and staff for your honeymoon registry and we would love to be a part of this special journey.

With For The Moon, the gift process is quick, convenient, fun and less expensive for everyone…traditional registries require your guests to travel to a retail store and hunt down the registry and gift, gift wrap it and generally transport the gift to the wedding to give to you.  Most retail stores also charge anywhere from 40% to 100% mark-up on items, plus tax in most cases. 

For The Moon only charges a 8% or 10% transaction fee per gift item to cover expenses such as credit card fees, phone calls, faxes, postcards, mailing lists, etc. The rest goes straight into your registry balance.  You will also receive a FREE wedding website with your registry as well!  Why pay for a seperate wedding website when we will give you one with your registry?

Q: What will I receive by choosing For The Moon for my honeymoon registry?
A: You will receive a beautiful custom registry built specifically for you.  We do not template or cookie cutter our registries.  You would not do this with your wedding, why would you choose am impersonal solution for your honeymoon registry.  Upon set-up of your registry, we will mail you 50 informative logo postcards to mail to your guests.

Q: What does a registry cost?
A: Honeymoon registries vary in cost. Some companies have high priced set-up fees while a few claim that they don’t charge anything (just remember the saying, “you get what you pay for”). For the Moon charges a one time $24.95 set-up fee for all non-Alderman Travel booking clients and NO SET-UP FEE for those who use Alderman Travel to book their honeymoon vacation. Additional expenses are deducted in the form of transaction fees from each individual gift amount. The couple does not pay for these fees unless gifts are returned due to event/wedding cancellation. Transaction fees cover expenses such as credit card fees, phone calls, faxes, postcards, mailing lists, etc.

Q: What security measures are in place on your site?
A: All of your information will be collected and processed on a secure and confidential site using Authorize.net. The transaction pages on our site are also protected by SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption

Q: Can you help us to make our travel arrangements?
A: Yes, our sister company, Alderman Travel, can assist you with all of your travel needs. From the initial travel consultation to booking airfare, hotels, and activities, they will assist you to create a memorable honeymoon vacation. You may choose to use our travel services or make arrangements yourself. The choice is up to you!

Q: Do we have to use Alderman Travel’s services?
A: No, you do not have to use Alderman Travel to book your honeymoon in order to open a honeymoon registry with For The Moon. However, if you do choose to use ATC, you will receive a discount on your set-up fee and a reduced rate on your transaction fees per gifted amount.

Q: Is there a charge for Alderman Travel’s services?
A: No, there are no additional transaction fees to book your honeymoon using Alderman Travel. Alderman Travel includes a phone consultation and three complimentary travel itineraries; if your plans exceed this limit, additional transaction fees may be applied for time and services rendered.

Q: Does For The Moon make all of the arrangements for the activities we have listed on our registry?
A: No, we do not book your activities. For The Moon collects your honeymoon registry funds and pays-out your total registry amount in check form. You may then choose to use Alderman Travel, another travel agent or book these items on your own. The decision is up to you! It is a good idea to wait and see what response you generate before booking these items.

Q: How do we get the word out about our registry?
A: The best way to inform your family and friends of your registry is to use our For the Moon Registry postcards. 50 logo postcards are included in your package. You can customize these cards with an engagement photo you submit, or a photo of your honeymoon location for an additional fee. For the Moon can also address and mail out these cards for you to help you save on time (minimal charges do apply for customization and mailing services). The key to your registry’s success is to get the word out! If guests do not know what you want, they cannot contribute.

Q: How do we receive our gift funds from For The Moon?
A: A payout time will be determined after your registry has been set up. This is generally a week before your departure date. The registry will remain open for those who purchase last-minute gift items. You will then receive a final payout check for these last minute gift purchases when you return from your trip.  If you have a balance and would like to be paid out at any time, we will simply send you a check for the balance that is in your account.  We can send out up to four checks per registry.

Q: What if our honeymoon isn’t completely paid for through our registry?
A: The average honeymoon registry pays for 60% of the total honeymoon expenses. Couples are responsible for all travel items booked thru their travel agent or Alderman Travel. For The Moon does not pay any travel agency on your behalf. You will be responsible for paying for your honeymoon when payments (i.e. deposits and final payments) are required by your travel agent. If your registry payout does not cover all expenses, you will need to pay the remaining balance on your own. This is why we recommend a basic honeymoon package based on a budget that you can meet. If your registry does well you can always add activities or days to the trip through your travel agent.

Q: What personal information is collected by For the Moon?
A: We collect names, phone numbers, mailing information, e-mail addresses, and payment information on a secured SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption page. We may also collect internet research data for our records that help us to track how couples and guests have found and accessed our site (i.e. web searches, linked sites, and so on). None of this information is released; it is simply a tool to assist us with our marketing of For the Moon.

Q: What happens to our personal information?
A: We do not give out any personal information provided by our couples or their guests. For the Moon makes client privacy and security a high priority. We do not sell or give out any personal information. We also have many levels of internet security through Authorize.net to help ensure that all payment information is kept safe and secure.

Q: Is it safe to make check and credit card purchases?
A: Guests can make safe and secure check and credit card purchases through a secure Authorize.net payment gateway on our site. All transaction pages use secured SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. If you or your guests do not feel comfortable making these purchases over the internet, you can call us on our toll-free number and we will be happy to assist.

Q: Can we have more than one type of registry for our wedding?
A: Yes, you can have a For the Moon registry and still register for traditional items as well. We do notice that couples who focus only on a honeymoon registry or have a minimal list of house wares to choose from generally receive a larger honeymoon registry contribution.
